Top 5 Songs of all time

Not in any particular order
Lost Prophets - Last Summer
One of Bronwyns favourite bands - this song has really grown on me - great riffs and words - you know when a song is this good you never fast forward no matter how many times you've heard it

"Here by my side, in my summer, our last summer

The world passes by in my summer, our last summer

The light makes shadows fall, surrounded by each other

Alive to watch it all, the view from our last summer"

Chicago - Make me smile

This is probably my favourite song of all time - gritty voice, great horns a blues/Jazz number thats hard to put in any particular container. Made before Chicago went into soft rock and so timeless even the kids love it.

"Children play in the park, they don't know

I'm alone in the dark, even though

Time and time again I see your face smiling inside"

M People - What a fool belives

Originally recorded by the Doobie Brother - this is a very complex song which I've given up trying to play long since. The original is fantastic but this version just gives something more - can't say just what but its definitely there.

"She had a place in his life

He never made her think twice

As he rises to her apology

Anybody else would surely know

He’s watching her go

But what a fool believes he sees

No wise man has the power to reason away"

Neil Young - Old Man

This is just a beautiful folk / country song and brings back so many memories of my youth. Its just right up there for every reason I can think of.

"Love lost, such a cost,

Give me things that don't get lost.

Like a coin that won't get tossed

Rolling home to you."

Joni Mitchel -Free man in Paris

Joni Mitchel is one of my favourite artists - this could be any one of 20 or so songs - another folk/jazzy number that that just lifts you up

"There was nobody calling me up for favors

And no one’s future to decide

You know I’d go back there tomorrow

But for the work I’ve taken on

Stoking the star maker machinery

Behind the popular song"
